Healthcare outreach works best when people can access support where they are. That is the idea behind Phoebe, a mobile unit Vanna Mobile Medical built for Phoenix House.
Phoenix House introduced Phoebe in Brooklyn during National Recovery Month. The van will travel to neighborhoods including East New York, Brownsville, Flatbush, Williamsburg, and Bushwick, bringing overdose prevention and recovery resources directly into the community.
Inside Phoebe are two seating areas where visitors can speak with a recovery worker. Phoenix House plans to offer Narcan training, support from people with lived recovery experience, and help connecting visitors with treatment and other services. The van gives its team another way to reach people who may never visit a fixed location.
We’re proud to have built a vehicle that supports Phoenix House’s work. Phoebe shows what a mobile medical unit can make possible: a welcoming space for a conversation, a connection to resources, and a path toward care.
